This is a collection of epoxy samples that I use to get a feel for the color and texture of the mica powders used to patch and fill the “rivers” in the tables. The names under the pictures are given by the various companies that make the powders. Mica powders are used to make cosmetics and soap as well as to color epoxy. As can be seen, they make every color under the sun. Except for dark red. For some reason, dark red is hard to make. Most of these come from small variety packs and won't necessarily end up in a table, but I have been surprised on occasion and found some nice colors. One of the problems with matching and predicting color is that the color of the powder is not exactly the color that you get when you mix it into epoxy, even though the epoxy is clear. Another challenge is that the color changes with the amount of light, the amount of epoxy, and the size of the mica grains. Not every powder can be used to make a lighter, translucent version. The bigger flakes in the glittery powders work fine when mixed in with something else, but don’t give enough color to be used on their own in a larger area. Those powders with a finer grain can be used to make a wide range of color values. Regardless, if you see something that you like here, I can use that to find a match.
